Anno 117 versus Anno 1800
Buy 117 if you want the year 117 setting and the newer interface. Buy 1800 if you want the larger pile of expansions and you can find it discounted, which is common for a 2019 game. I am not declaring a winner.
| Anno 117 | Anno 1800 | |
|---|---|---|
| Setting | 117 CE, Roman provinces | Industrial revolution, 19th century |
| Place in the series | Eighth mainline game | Seventh, 2019 |
| Launch peak | Reported above 50,000, about twice 1800 | The baseline in that comparison |
| Systems people cite | No railway, modular ships, regional provinces, optional needs | Deeper logistics and production |
| DLC by Nov 2026 | Year 1: three gameplay packs | Years of seasons, much larger |
The peak comparison is from a tech article that also covered the Mixed launch reviews. It is not an official sales chart. Wikipedia confirms the settings and the series order. A current 1800 price was not captured on 6 Nov 2026, so I will not invent a “cheaper by $X” line.
Questions
Which has more content?
1800, because it has had years of DLC. 117’s Year 1 is three gameplay packs.
Which sold faster?
A report says 117’s concurrent peak was about twice 1800’s. That is concurrent players, not copies sold.
